Our branch, number is 1016 and was formed in 1979, we currently have 30 members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Club is run by our members, some of whom volunteer to take on roles in our Executive Committee, currently our Committee consists of the following:-  Chairperson, Diving Officer \/ Training Officer,  Treasurer,  Membership Secretary, Equipment Officer, Secretary, Club Welfare Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f685b93014f106bc1f346174eaaf1eb5 wp-block-paragraph\">We have a mixture of members of various diving grades, providing a good blend of diving skills, from Trainees, Sports Divers through to the more advanced grades of Dive Leader and Advanced Diver. <a href=\"https:\/\/sussexdiving.co.uk\/qualified-divers\/\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fd223266c424299e0f0f1ca78c901f1c wp-block-paragraph\">A few of our more experienced divers are also qualified instructors. A number of our members have attended the external courses run by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BSAC<\/a> in such topics as Boat Handling, First Aid for Divers, Oxygen Administration, Marine VHF Radio, Marine Conservation etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We aim to start diving each year as soon as our RIB has been serviced, usually beginning of the Spring season, we then organise regular dives for weekday evenings and at the weekends and some members are able to &#8216;skive to dive&#8217; so organise mid week dives as well.\u00a0 All our dives are run and managed by our own volunteers.\u00a0 We have excellent local knowledge of the Brighton wrecks and reefs and keep the dive calendar varied and open to all for opportunities to enjoy our coast.\u00a0 Take a look at our\u00a0favourite Wreck and Reef Dives here  <a href=\"https:\/\/sussexdiving.co.uk\/?page_id=63\">Reef Dives<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/sussexdiving.co.uk\/?page_id=65\">Wreck Dives<\/a> to find out more about the local sites off our coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training programme commences in the Autumn and continues through to Spring. This means that by early summer most trainees have reached the Ocean&nbsp;or Sports diver grades and are able to progress to their open-water training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do you see down there?&nbsp; There is a plethora of marine life, which will give you plenty to smile about.&nbsp; A wide variety of UK wildlife lives on our local reef including conger eels, Bib, Wrasse, tiny Tom Pot Blennies and some substantial lobsters and a variety of crab species.&nbsp; We are seeing more cuttlefish, rays and skates.&nbsp; The wrecks are also home to nudibranch, Jewel Anemones and all manner of fish life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sussex Diving Club is a membership club affiliated to BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club).
